Operations: Core Process Automation, Connected and Dynamic Operations, Data-driven Decision-making
Using the real-world example of a major hospital, IBM will explore typical facility management challenges and how the right integrated workplace management solution can provide quantifiable results. IBM will present the leadership challenges faced by any business that has to manage an extensive real estate portfolio, to make this presentation more relevant we will use a typical Hospital as the example case to better articulate the issues, constraints, and considerations. Getting Started on Your Digital Journey
The first step in digital transformation is putting together a plan. The plan should include a vision of what you want to accomplish and why, a list of the primary business objectives you are trying to meet, and a strategy for how to get there. We will take you step by step through a digitization planning exercise – from evaluation of existing conditions through the implementation process. You’ll learn why digitization is critical for the long-term management and operations of your building, as well as all the benefits digitization can provide to the overall occupant experience. This dynamic and interactive session will help you understand the major trends in digital buildings today, provide relevant use cases, share examples of real projects, and help you ask the right questions to shape your digital strategy and get you started on the journey to smarter buildings.

Preparing for Technology Implementation and Adoption – 3 breakout sessions

Rotate between these 25-minute educational sessions on:

Decarbonizing the Office with Digital Tools
In this session, attendees will learn about approaches for decarbonizing offices and buildings in their real estate portfolio with technology as a key enabler of this process and outcomes. Examples of low cost and easy-to-deploy solutions will be shared, which can help accelerate organizations’ plans towards achieving their sustainability and net-zero goals.

Data Synergy – Streamlining Solutions for Clearer Data and Smoother Operations
The modern building demands seamless integration of data across hard and soft services, with agile reporting that can be adapted to the evolving space needs within, and from one building to another across a corporate real estate portfolio. Data cobbling from disparate streams leads to inefficiencies and burden operational leadership. During this breakout session, the presenter will outline the barriers and challenges of siloed technology, disrupting the experience in unique ways for clients, occupants, and operators, culminating with the question, why are we using five or ten standalone applications that don’t interact with each other? Best practices shared include how data can support more effective operations, what types of data to capture, and what kinds of questions to ask when seeking new technology solutions (including how leveraging or enhancing existing platforms optimizes resources and increases speed-to-market).

Work Smart: How a Digital Technology Strategy for Restroom Servicing Can Revolutionize Performance Metrics
Facility management teams today face big problems preventing them from meeting their financial goals. Even more so since COVID-19 emerged. Consider how the following factors might pose risks to your bottom line: unpredictable building traffic, janitorial and maintenance labor availability, product cost increases, staff productivity challenges, increased germ anxiety and higher hygiene expectations from occupants.

Developing a more secure vision of the future and a smart strategy for your whole facility can seem like a huge task, but success starts with using data to quantify challenges. The good news? Recent improvements in digital technology can quickly pinpoint those issues, transform conventional building operations, automate processes that lead to preventative maintenance, and provide facility managers with the intelligence to make real-time, data-driven decisions.

Restrooms are consistently one of the most highly trafficked, most complained about, and often neglected areas in any building. However, technological developments like smart restroom solutions have proven effective at immediately driving tangible returns on investment via gains in operational efficiency and sustainability.

This presentation will demonstrate how strategy planning turns into action by covering the challenges presented by conventional restroom servicing routines, showing how quickly and easily smart restroom technology can transform operational efficiency. Participants will receive the executive-level whitepaper “Smart Connected Restrooms, A Cornerstone of Today’s Smart Healthy Buildings,” which explores wider market drivers for the adoption of IoT technologies and the business case for implementing smart, connected restroom technology.

How to Lead Change & Transformation in Your Organization

The pressure to innovate and adapt to the ever-evolving needs of the business now demands procurement leaders to have the ability to not only administer within their function but also to lead change within their organizations. However, obtaining and maintaining true transformation change has proven to be one of the more challenging aspects of leading an FM organization. This session will focus on key best practices for leading change and as an example, will consider specific impacts of innovation on the behavior of the internal personnel within the implementation of proven optimal approaches for solicitation development, administration, and delivery from a procurement perspective. This session will provide practical methods and specific examples to help you the next time you have to adopt new methodologies, processes, technologies, or tools across your organization. Key learnings from over 20 years of research and 600 organizational change initiatives will be incorporated throughout the session.
